About Becki Livingston, NCC, LPC-MHSP-S

When not in session, I enjoy snuggling with my cats, Sir Griffin, Lord Henry, and Viscount Brimley. I also perform music in the local area with various musicians and support the local music community with a radio show that features the female presenting musicians in our local music scene. I live what I teach by regularly engaging in mindfulness practices, growing personal connections, and deepening a connection to nature. I enjoy other creative activities, including gardening, crocheting, traveling, playing ukulele, watching live music, reading, and connecting with others in the community.
Hey there!
My therapy services are for adults 18-70 suffering from unprocessed or complicated grief, unacknowledged loss, and unresolved trauma. This might come from the death of a loved one, the loss of an identity or role in one’s life, unexpected changes in relationships, any form of abuse, or any kind of tragic incident. This kind of experience can cause anxiety, depression, denial, low self-esteem, blame, sleep disturbances, decreased performance, physical health problems, and strain on surviving relationships.
As a certified Grief, Loss, and Trauma specialist, I focus on healing the painful wounds of the past. By using what already works for a person, including skills and attitudes that have already been helping, and building new skills to expand effectiveness of coping, clients are able to improve confidence and independence to manage life on life’s terms. Clients will work toward a decrease in behavioral symptoms, improvement of function and satisfaction in relationships, performance, and life experience. I believe each client is the expert on themselves, and through a trusting therapeutic relationship, we will collaborate to strengthen that expertise. I encourage creative expression as a way to facilitate greater self-awareness and growth.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors that maintains a national standard on the trainings and qualifications of licensed mental health counselors.
Prior to private practice, I have worked in in-patient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient facilities offering both group and individual therapy, as well as activity therapy and psychoeducation. I now work in individual outpatient therapy, at the lowest level of care.
I am also a Clinical Supervisor, offering oversight and support for mental health counselors working toward licensure in the state of Tennessee. I work to ensure high quality care in the profession and to facilitate the professional development of therapists.
I have a passion for working to build skills to increase self-awareness, to better control thoughts and feelings, and to improve quality and fulfillment of life.
